Today was A DAY!

We knew one of two things had to happen, either Florida was going on to the national championship or Alabama was. The game remained close through the half, but there were two very discouraging signs for Florida, one being Alabama's 3rd down conversion rate, and the other was time of possession. Both were pretty incredible stats for Alabama. Throw in the fact that Florida couldn't stop Alabama's run, and it wasn't because Ingram was great, but rather Alabama's O line dominated Florida's D line, and you have the recipe of what was cooked today, Florida's goose. Tebow and Ingram did nothing to help nor hurt their Heisman chances and I have to believe that whomever gets the coveted trophy, it was probably already decided before this game, however, the Nebraska/Texas game could have a bearing on that award.
Likewise, I really thought if Nebraska beat Texas, Cincy would leap over TCU for the National title, but afterSURVIVING Pittsburg, I am not so sure of that anymore.
USC proved what I have said all along, the Pac 10 is the toughest league in the nation. Seven of the ten teams will go on to bowls and I am pretty sure that most, maybe all will win their respective games. (However, I really think UCLA will lose.)

I agree with almost everything. Like I said, you sure as hell know your sports. Pac-10 vs. SEC. True, there are more excellent teams in the Pac-10 but the top of the Pac-10 is not as good as the SEC's best (Alabama and Florida). Due to this, I vote these two of the nation's best conferences as even.

One pointer you did not include in your analysis involved the suspension of Florida's defensive line stud Carlos Dunlap, the idiot who went out earlier in the week and earned himself a DUI. Dunlaps absence CLEARLY hurt Florida. Dunlap (a 5 start recruit) was last year's defensive MVP in the BCS national championship game and until his foolsih drunken escapade was considered a 1st round draft choice. He has one more year eligibility left so it will be interesting to see what he does. If I were the coach, I'd throw his butt off the team for good. Go to the NFL but get out of Florida because Dunlap's absence really plummeted Florida's defense and hence Florida's chance for a win. Florida overall played a crappy game. Except for Tebow's interception, I don't think that he played bad, but obvsiously he couldn't carry team on his back alone. Hernandez drops a touchdown pass. Demps drops a pass early in the match. That's how it went all day. I've never liked Alabama, but I don't see Texas or anyone else matching up to them. 2005 USC could easily have handled 2009 Alabama. They're good but not that great.

I thought Alabama's QB's performance would be a key to this game and he did not dissappoint.

Thanks for your commentary. Superb as always.
